Mazda Sales Soar 33 Percent In March

April 11th, 2011

Mazda sales have been strong all year, and March’s numbers don’t disappoint. The automaker reported a 33.3 percent increase in U.S. sales versus March of 2010, with 30,905 units sold.

The company’s sales success in 2011 continues to be fueled by the Mazda3, which recorded sales of 12,467 units in March. For car buyers looking to maximize fuel-efficiency, the Mazda2 also continues to be an attractive offering, as it saw its best-ever month in sales.

“As fuel prices continue to soar, consumers look to purchase fuel-efficient vehicles that don’t compromise on design, features or performance,” said Jim O’Sullivan, MNAO president and CEO.  “Fortunately, Mazda is well poised to meet the needs of our consumers, thanks to our highly attractive vehicles that deliver exhilarating performance in a fuel-efficient manner, all at an affordable price.”

Although small cars saw staggering demand, Mazda’s lineup of fuel-efficient crossovers also performed well last month. The CX-9 posted its best month ever with sales of 3,635 vehicles, up 22.5 percent, and CX-7 recorded sales of 3,407 vehicles, up 30.7 percent.
