Good news for rotary enthusiasts: Mazda’s late RX-7 may be returning to the market! The legendary Mazda vehicle is rumored for a 2017 return, based on comments by Mazda sports car boss Nobuhiro Yamamoto.
There’s good cause for optimism, too. The Rotary Engine will be celebrating it’s 50th anniversary in 2017, an event deserving the rev-savvy powerhouse’s return. Yamamoto reportedly claimed that a 16X rotary engine was developed in 2007, but has yet to find a place in any production model.

Mazda Motor Corporation will hold the world premiere of the refreshed Mazda CX-9 crossover SUV at the 2012 Australian International Motor Show.
Held in Sydney, the 2012 Australian International Motor Show begins October 18 and runs through to October 28, 2012. The 2013 CX-9 will be launched in Australia later this year.
From design concept to final production, the all-new 2014 Mazda6 has been a feast for the eyes. Spawning from its TAKERI Concept beginnings, which made its global debut at the Tokyo Motor Show last November, the redesigned Mazda6 was adapted for more practical wheels-to-road use yet did not sacrifice style or its appeal of being a game-changer in the mid-size vehicle segment.
The second Mazda to feature the full suite of SKYACTIV® technologies, the Mazda6 will launch in Europe this year with an added slew of all-new safety features and fuel efficiency-improving technologies. The vehicle is expected to go on sale in the U.S. and Canada in early 2013.

The 2012 running of the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, held annually at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, took place in the hills near the picturesque seaside town of Monterey. As a company with a near-unrivaled heritage of motorsport success, as well as the only Asian car company to ever win the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Mazda participated in this year’s event with three significant vehicles from its heritage collection, a 1990 Mazda 787 Group C, a 1991 Mazda RX-7 IMSA GTO and a 1992 Mazda RX-792P IMSA GTP.
The GTP car set the pace for the first day of the event, achieving the fastest time in race groups 6B, GTP, and C. The GTO finished the single on-track session for group 6B in fourth place, behind only three ground-effects GTP cars.
Mazda Motor Corporation held a ceremony to commemorate the start of production of the new Mazda6, fully redesigned for the first time in five years. A wagon counterpart was revealed on-site.
The ceremony took place at the company’s Hofu Plant No. 2. Approximately 500 people gathered for the celebration. The first vehicle to come off the line was a Mazda6 wagon built to European specifications and powered by the SKYACTIV-G 2.0 gasoline engine.
The highly-anticipated all-new 2014 Mazda6 will make its global debut during press preview days during August’s Moscow International Automobile Salon.
The redesigned vehicle will be the second Mazda to be fully incorporated with SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY, the brand’s proprietary engineering focus on developing fuel-efficient, performance-oriented vehicles as a result of lightweight and redesigned engine, transmission, chassis and body structures.
Mazda has decided to increase production capacity of its new crossover, the Mazda CX-5, from 200,000 units to 240,000 units per year. Upgrades to the assembly line will enable an increase in SKYACTIV products. The move is made in response to strong demand for the CX-5 in countries all over the world.
On top of that, Mazda plans to double the annual production capacity of SKYACTIV Engines, meaning 800,000 of these efficient and powerful engines will be built per year.
